@moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org
A man whose mind is a haze of swedish punk rock, fantasies about musclegirls, and strong opinions on portable electronics: and slightly less stubborn views on software.

Child of the Home Theater PC-era.
("inside of every set-top box is a Computer waiting to break free")

Strongly believe that the decline of keyboard phones may have been bigger blow to the concept of general-purpose computing than any DRM/vendor lock-in: and that the snakeoil salesmen powering the "generative AI" industry can only thrive in a world where OS vendors don't ship software development toolchains as part of the base install.

My main barometer for Software Bloat is the presence of a splash screen to cover up loading times.

Inadvertently nerdsniped @rose@snac.pinkro.se into making a Gentoo LiveCD.
(see https://gardenhouse.pinkro.se/news/bouquet_of_isos.html )

Named myself as a play on anime cop Noah Izumi, because she's a friendly technooptimistic dumbass (can relate) and dismantled a supply chain botnet decades before NPM and Wordpress made those mainstream.

She also managed to conquer the Griffon because her last-gen exoskeleton didn't have the "neural network enhanced" movement system: a refreshing contrast to every other mecha anime absolutely salivating over equipment upgrades.

[sometimes I think Patlabor 2 should've been about her becoming a Quaker or something]

== Interests ==
- Making simple gameplay mods for ZDoom
(weapons, player movement, jetpacks)

- Hacker conferences, i.e CCC
(never been to one, but the talks eviscerate 99% of tech Youtube)

- Reading: tech blogs, manga, religious works
(TechTipsy, @domi@donotsta.re 's blog, even Hackaday if I'm desperate)
(Patlabor, Rayearth, anything by Shirow Masamune)
(New Testament, The Religion of the Samurai)

- Permacomputing
(mainly interested in the "my laptop from 2003 works fine, get off my lawn Microsoft"-part of their philosophy)

- Videogames
(Jackal and Millipede are the best 2D shooters, because you don't need a speed powerup to have a fighting chance)
(Quake has worse guns than doom, but the verticality makes up for it)
(Doom is more interesting when you don't keep weapons between levels)
(got highly addicted to F-Zero for a while)
(Kung Fu for NES is the only beat-em up I really got into, it isn't a slugfest: also appreciate Mazinger Z for SNES because of the immense enemy variety)

- Birds
(kinda want to scratch a Golden Eagle under the chin, I find them oddly cute)
(don't get why Netscape's grandson is called Seamonkey instead of Albatross or something)

Profile picture is Ishikawa from Ghost in the Shell (1995 movie)

As of 27 April 2026 I only repost/quote posts that I've replied to.
I don't wish to have a profile full of reruns, but I still see the value in signal-boosting the work of others.
